Compliance with environmental standards
The construction, and now the operation of the L’Érable Wind Farm, are both subject to demanding standards to minimize the environmental impacts. Here are the main standards that governed construction and that now govern the wind farm’s operating activities.
- The L’Érable wind farm must comply with the Interim Control By-law (ICB 270) of RCM of L’Érable, issued in January 2006, revised in 2010 and revised again in 2013.
- The project is subject to section 31.1 of the Environment Quality Act. Éoliennes de L’Érable thus mandated the independent firm SNC-Lavalin to conduct an environmental impact study.
- The construction work was carried out in compliance with the Regulation respecting standards of forest management for public land and the sound practices of the Ministère des Ressources naturelles et de la Faune.
- The construction work was carried out in compliance with the best practices recommended by Fisheries and Oceans Canada.
- The project complies with the Hydro-Québec Frame of Reference relating to the development of wind farms in agricultural and forest environments.
- Rigorous monitoring measures were deployed throughout construction, and then currently for operation of the wind farm.
